  2. 1. Because he wanted poeple to know that african americans were now free ( with limits) and also i think another reason was because he knew that it would the union's army, because they would be getting more men now.

    2. That they were basically free, and that they could go to whatever armed forces they wanted ( like navy and the army. It is basically stating what the men in the 54th infantry already have.

    3. It is thew official speech that gave african americans their true freedom. While it may ave not given them their full rights it was a step into the process of integrating african americans fully into the american society.

    4. Arkansas, texas, Louisiana( with some exceptions), Mississippi, alabama, , Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.

  3. 1) For slaves that were enrolled into the army and fought for the country to be free and all slave in the listed areas to be free also. This reduces the amount of rebellion in the United States (as a whole) for the blacks will no longer be worried on the account of going to war with no return.

    2) It meant that even though they were told that they would die and after they fought, they were relived to know they not only weren't gonna be killed, but they were free also.

  4. 1. i think he issues it to show the confederates that they are totally willing to accept the black slaves into their society, and that they werent' afraid of them any more. also the north wasn't doing very well on the whole with the war. they saw that the blacks were just as qualified to fight and that they needed the help of the oppressed to win this war.

    2. it would have given them hope. hope that other's like them who wanted to fight now had the power to do that.

  5. 1. Why did Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation?
It says by power of virtue so it might've been a part of his beliefs but it also may have been because he wanted to keep true to want previous documents of the united states (declaration of independence) claim. The last reason that would been possible for him to make this document would have been the fact of him knowing that releasing the slaves would majorly benefit the northern states. I believe that his decision was mainly made on the fact of virtue/belief and the other things were just perks to go with

    2. What does this document would have meant to the soldiers of the 54th Infantry?
It would've basically meant the freedom of the men or the slavery of the men or so they thought. They were fighting for their right to be free and basically their right to live a normal life
    3. What is the historical significance of The Emancipation Proclamation?
It was a major motion in setting the slaves and other blacks "completely" free even though the struggle continued for years to come.

  8. 1) he isseud the emancipation proclimation to tell people that slavery is outlawed and that all current slaves are free.

    2) this meant to them that even if they lost the war they did not have to worry about being sent back to the life of a slave.

    3) the Significance of the proclimation is that it is the document that official gives slaves/african americans their freedom and puts an end to slavery.
